- Notes From the Vineyard
-
With the recent rains, all the vines are dormant and settled in for the winter, and we have completed pruning for the season. With spring just around the corner we're eager to share our anticipation of two new vineyards.
Last spring Mark planted a 1.5 acre addition of Pinot Noir to the family-owned Cargasacchi Vineyard in the Sta. Rita hills. His choices of stock differ from the main vineyard, and reflect his own personal expression of wine making. The vines are comprised of Pommard 4, and Dijon 667 and 777. We expect the first harvest to be 2011, and can't wait to see how these varietals perform in such a prime locale.
The second planting is a 9 acre plot of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on the slopes next to Sea Smoke and Mt. Carmel. The first harvest of this exciting new vineyard will be this year. Currently you can expect to see vintages from Arcadian and Bonnacorsi as well as Jalama.
Expect to hear more about these exctiing sources in the coming year!
- New Winery Space in Lompoc
-
We are really pleased to let you know that we've finally secured our own winery space in the Lompoc "Wine Ghetto." For those of you that don't know, we've made our wines at other wineries. Now that we've made the jump to our own location we'll be looking forward to having a regular tasting room. Of course we'll still be happy to have people out at the ranch for tastings by appointment.
Our mailing address will stay the same, but our new facility location is:
308 North 9th Street, Unit C, Lompoc, CA (Wine Ghetto map - We are now right beside location #6) - Open That Bottle Night

Never heard of it?
It's a yearly event created by Dorothy J. Gaiter and John Brecher of the Wall Street Journal where, on the last Saturday night in February friends, loved ones and groups get together to enjoy that special bottle you've been saving for an extra special occasion. Open That Bottle Night is that extra special occasion!
So plan a dinner party or a romantic evening, or just time with friends and family this February 27. Open that bottle you've held on to and make some great memories. If your wine happens to be Jalama and you have some stories to share, let us know what you're planning or how it went so we can post them.
If you love the idea, but your cellar is empty, have a look around ours! I'm sure we have just the wine you need to make it an extra special event.
